City to host low-cost pet clinic July 24
Full Description:
The city on July 24 will host a low-cost vaccination clinic for dogs and cats from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at City Hall, 32400 Paseo Adelanto. The Southern California Veterinary Medical Association (SCVMA) and Orange County Animal Care Services are sponsoring the clinic.
Vaccinating pets helps to ward off disease and illness, veterinarians say. Though it is not required by law, except for rabies protection, vaccinating pets is recommended for the well being of animals.
Dog vaccines include the six-in-one vaccine (DHLPP) and the Coronavirus and Bordetella vaccines. Cats can receive a four-in-one vaccine.
Rabies vaccines are $6; the DHLPP and four-in-one cat vaccine are $14 each; and the Coronavirus and Bordetella vaccines are $11 each.
The rabies vaccine, which is required for all dogs four months of age and older, provides three years of protection for dogs 12 months and older and one-year protection for dogs four to 11 months old. Pets eight weeks and older can receive the other vaccines, which provide protection for one year.
Representatives from the Orange County Animal Care Services will sell dog licenses. As a health service, SCVMA veterinarians staff the clinic.
